Essa & J-Felix Present: The Fifth Foundation + Ryan Skillit, Amy Nomvula

The Fifth Foundation bring their explosive live experience to Norwich, mixing timeless soul, jazz, funk and rap sounds.

Bonding over a shared love of soul, jazz, funk and hip-hop, rapper Essa and producer / multi-instrumentalist J-Felix assembled a dream-team of top notch vocalists and players for this collective effort.

The result? Driving beats, poignant bars, soulful hooks and stirring brass.

Essa was a key figure in UK Hip-Hop’s heralded “golden era”, alongside contemporaries and collaborators Jehst, Klashnekoff and TY, performing and recording with such luminaries as De La Soul, Wu-Tang Clan, Guru, Slum Village and Pharoahe Monch, winning praise from Nas and Mark Ronson.

J-Felix’s rich production takes in neo-soul, UK Jazz, boogie and hip-hop. His signature “J-Funk” style evokes classic samples but with all-original playing from the versatile multi-instrumentalist, who has worked with Swindle, Kojey Radical, Mahalia and Alice Russell.
